Behind the Scenes: How I Shot This Video

This project was a fun challenge to bring to life! I focused on creating a mysterious and intimate atmosphere to match the themes of the story. The fortune-teller’s reading room was lit with warm, moody lighting, using soft practical lights like candles and a dimly lit lamp to set the tone. I used a combination of close-up and medium shots to capture the subtle emotions on Yasmine’s face and the details of the tarot cards being laid out.

For the fortune-teller’s moments of insight, I played with shallow depth of field and slow camera movements to draw attention to the significance of the cards. I shot the scene handheld to maintain a sense of intimacy and unease, while also creating a natural flow to mirror the tension in the dialogue.

The audio was captured using a directional microphone to ensure the dialogue was crisp and clear, even in the quiet, reflective moments. In post-production, I added light ambient sound effects to enhance the mystical vibe and layered in a subtle score to heighten the emotional beats of the story.

This was all about creating a feeling rather than just telling a story, and I hope viewers feel drawn into Yasmine's world as much as I did while shooting it.
